SHERIFF BRIAN ALBERT

Sheriff Brian Albert is proud to serve the people of Washington County. Elected in 2022 and sworn in as the 79th Sheriff on December 15, 2022, Brian brings decades of proven leadership, experience, and integrity to the Sheriff’s Office.
Before becoming Sheriff, Brian served as Assistant Director of the Division of Emergency Services, overseeing the Washington County 911 Center. He also retired as a Captain with the Maryland Natural Resources Police after more than 28 years of service, commanding the Western Region from Frederick to Garrett Counties. His leadership experience spans local, regional, and statewide public safety operations.
A lifelong resident of Clear Spring, Brian and his wife, Susan, raised their two daughters right here in Washington County. Raised in his family’s grocery store, Brian understands hard work, accountability, and the values that define our community. For more than 25 years, he has coached youth and high school sports and served on citizens’ advisory boards for the Board of Education and Washington County.
A proud United States Air Force veteran with more than 34 years of public service, Sheriff Brian Albert is committed to strong leadership, safe neighborhoods, and putting Washington County first—today and for the future.
